David Jackson appointed to Fonterra Board
Fonterra has announced the appointment of David Jackson to its board of directors. Mr Jackson is a professional company director and has more than three decades of corporate experience both in New Zealand and overseas.
In making the announcement Fonterra chairman, Henry van der Heyden, said Mr Jackson will chair Fonterra’s Audit, Finance and Risk committee.
“David is uniquely qualified for this role, having worked as an audit partner for 23 years at Ernst & Young on clients such as Coca-Cola, The Warehouse, DB Breweries and Carter Holt Harvey,” Mr Van der Heyden said.
Mr Jackson is a director of some of the country’s leading companies, including Pumpkin Patch Ltd., The New Zealand Refining Company and Nuplex Industries Ltd. Mr Jackson will join Fonterra’s board in September and his appointment is to be ratified by shareholders at the company’s annual meeting on September 26.
Mr Jackson is a former Chairman of accounting firm Ernst & Young New Zealand. He has extensive international experience in the U.K., U.S., Asia and South America.
Mr Jackson will replace Graeme Hawkins, who is retiring from the Fonterra Board after six years.
“Graeme has been part of dairy industry governance for 15 years and during that time he has made an invaluable contribution to the industry. He has been with Fonterra since its inception and his extensive financial experience has played an important part in our governance.
“In his role as Chairman of the Audit, Finance and Risk committee Graeme’s tenacity has resulted in major improvements in Fonterra’s processes and systems,” Mr Van der Heyden said.
