Results of the Fonterra Shareholders' Council 2007 Elections
Fonterra has announced the final results from the Shareholders' Council 2007 elections.
From today, the new Council structure takes effect, increasing the number of Council wards from 25 to 35. It also means a move to one Councillor per ward, resulting in a reduction in the number of Councillors from 46 to 35.
The changes to Fonterra's Constitution and the Shareholders' Council By-laws that enabled the new structure to be implemented were approved by shareholders at Fonterra's Annual Meeting in October 2006.
Elections were held in five wards and shareholders elected the following Councillors:
Ward 7 - Coromandel - Dirk Sieling
Ward 11 - Western Bay of Plenty - Murray Linton
Ward 14 - Te Awamutu - Kevin Ferris
Ward 30 - Northern Canterbury - Geoff Stevenson
Ward 33 - Otago - Grant Scott
All shareholders will be advised of the election results in a letter from the Board Chair.

Murray Linton, Grant Scott, Grant Wills, Steve Carroll, Shona Glentworth, Sarah von Dadelszen and Philip Palmer are new Shareholders' Councillors. The remaining Councillors are incumbents who were re-elected in their new wards.
All Councillors will serve for at least 18 months, as there will be no retirement by rotation at the 2007 Annual Meeting. Shareholders' Council elections will return to the rotational cycle, where an election is held in every third ward every three years, at the 2008 Fonterra Annual Meeting.
